Boba Fett #5: A New Threat by Elizabeth Hand
![]() Anyways Boba finally gets to wear his armour (been adjusted to his size) and he well finds a new threat - I'm intrigued to see what will happen next - sometimes I wish the books were longer and it took me longer to read and enjoy them but oh well - that's the price you have to pay

Codex by Les Grossman
![]() Edward is a private financer and on his 2 weeks break from transferring from his office in US to London he takes up a job from one of his employers - but soon finds himself in the middle of something much larger than cleaning and cataloguing an old library. Not only that but Edward, not the gaming type, finds himself constantly playing MOMUS - and really badly at that. Things start to go a little strange when he tries to search for a particular book and is strangely told not to continue with his work - sensing something amiss Edward continues with the help of the smart but bookish Margret and they find something extraordinary. It was a good read I thoughly enjoyed it - worth taking a look at if you can find it.

Midnight Tides by Steven Erikson
![]() Okay it is the fifth in the Malazan series (which will all soon be reviewed on the site part soon) where by we aren't even in the world of Malazan at all and are instead in another world where the Letherii and Tist Edur live. It details the events of the Tiste Edur and what happened to Trull BEFORE House of Chains. Some characters from the previous books make appearances but not many and there are still warrens, magic and the like but no Houses, instead we have Holds and yet again some more Elder Gods coming back and well just lots of gods. Potentially you could read this book as a stand alone BUT you would get more out of it if you had read the rest of the series before hand, though if you are a major fan of T'lan Imass then sorry but you'll just have to wait for another Malazan book. Personally as I have mentioned before I adore Tehol - he is so delightful and funny, him and Bugg are a riot! So now I'm happy I have Toc in one Malazan thread, Pearl in the other and Tehol in the third - Me = 1 happy little Vegemite Oh if you want to know more about the books and chat to other fans go to www.malazanempire.com and join up (I'm Khall over there). Now I'm just eagerly awaiting the next book in the series :) [Oh and watch out for Harlest he bites :P]

Early morning Ent
Not a review but something funny Last night I was sleeping peacfully until about 2.30 in the morning I was woken up by Treebeard telling me "I am no tree, I am an Ent!" - scared the absolute crap out of me I woke up fully in two seconds thinking "what the..." I mean seriously my toy went off by itself right next to my HEAD no wonder I was woken up. I lay there thinking 'oh crap oh crap ho crap oh crap' till I remembered that my phone was sitting on top of him and that when it switched towers it probably triggered the toy off. It was then that I found it hilariously funny. Needless to say I wont be putting my phone near Treebeard, Sauron, Cave troll or Gollum at night time :)(It would've been heaps worse if it was Sauron saying "I see you" I think I would've run out of my room screaming with that one) Anyways that's the story - I'll be putting up a Midnight Tides review as soon as I'm finished it (I love tehol he's a hoot!)

Joust by Mercades Lackey
![]() It is about a young Serf by the name of Vetch who as fortune has it, a Tian Jouster named Ari finds him and takes him away to become his dragon boy. Despite being a serf and having very little friends, Vetch soon impresses everyone with his skill and dedication in looking after Ari and his dragon, Kashet. But Ari is unique amongst the jousters having raised Kashet from an egg rather than capturing a wild dragonet and having to tame it constantly with tala. Which gives Vetch ideas. The dragons are really neat and the characters very likeable (Ari is just the best) and it makes me want a dragon. It is a good light read that you don't have to think overly much in reading it (unlike Midnight Tides :) ). What the hey I enjoyed it and if you like her other work - you will probably like this one too. BTW the setting is 'Egyptian' inspired :P

Full Fathom Five (Kate Humphrey)
![]() It is a contempory novel about a young agraphobic named Sara who has spent the apst 5 years stuck in her farmland home spending time only with her disjoint family. On Easter Friday her painter father doesn't come home adn she gets worried and sends her brothers out in the rain to find him. They do, he is dangling upside after falling off the headland and is quickly taken to hospital though was it truely and accident? Moving and addictive - that and the fact that I have been close to where it was set and the date the book is set on is an important one to me. It struck a cord and I really enjoyed it - just going to show me that I don't JUST have to read fantasy :)

Fionavar Tapestry
![]() The Wandering Fire got even weirder if that is possible and I was suprised to see Arthur in it - that was a little strange but nothing I coldn't handle - it also seemed to jump a little around the place and could've been a lot longer with all of the concurrent threads. And a word of warning someone dies and I wont say who and another person joins a group of 'Wild people'. The Darkest Road I just finished yesterday and I did enjoy it but did ****** have to die? I mean really did they have to - well okay I guess they did but it was incrediably sad none the less. In fact a few characters die - I wont say which and spoil it though just be warned. Truely I enjoyed the series and all, it was a little weird and could've been longer (I wouldn't have minded more on Torc and Levon :) ). Give it a go - the books together make up about the size of one WoT book! :P
